God's Children's House
Urban Faith Works operates in a building our kids have lovingly named God’s Children’s House. In the heart of Gary, God’s Children’s House is a safe place where the city’s youth can get help with homework, have a snack, and enjoy life in a safe space.
Life in Gary
Living in Gary is not always the easiest. Our kids witness things that some of us would never dream of encountering, even as adults.
At Urban Faith Works, our goal is to help the youth of Gary learn how to set goals, reach them, and take responsibility for their own futures. We also come alongside them as they face struggles and trials, learn life skills, and make decisions each day.
Most of all, we teach these kids that God loves them, and they can have a personal relationship with Him.

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to enrich the lives of children and youth in Gary, IN. We believe God has called us to love on these children, and teach them the love of Christ. By instructing our kids in the life skills they need to have bright futures, we hope to help them both survive and thrive regardless of what they face in their lives. Our vision is that each child who walks through our door finds love, acceptance, support, and assistance, and they carry these with them for the rest of their lives.

Our Program
After School, Over the Summer, On Call
We believe our kids need the love, care, and support from the family at Urban Faith Works all day, every day. Because of this, we offer programs after school, over the summer, and on an on call basis. Anytime of the day or night, we’re here for these families.
Faith in Jesus
Above all, we hope that our students develop a deep and trusting relationship with Jesus through our ministry to them. Regardless of their circumstances, we help them focus on their faith and lean on the Lord for strength.
Homework Support
Most of our children want or require assistance with their homework. Our leaders help them with math, reading, writing, science, and other subjects, and engage with parents as needed for additional support.
Snacks & Meals
Many of our kids don’t have regular meals available and often come hungry! One of our biggest needs is keeping their tummies full so they can continue to grow and maintain good health.
Family Support
Some of our kids come from homes with single parents, some live with extended family members, and many have experienced tragedies within their families. We provide love and support not only to our youth, but their families as well.
Fun & Games
Each year, we try to provide our regular attending students with field trips and fun activities to reward them for their hard work and commitment to growth. Past trips include Chicago and our local bowling alley!
